troutfinger and i headed up to jordanelle with a couple other folks friday nite for what was to be a mini floatilla. i had my brand new trout unlimited tube and he was set to make his maiden voyage in his new pontoon. well none of that happened. we got there late, bout 7ish, and hurried to get on the water. his toon ended up not being quite as ready as he thought, our other partners wouldnt hold air and i got mine out about 20 feet and the plug on the valve of my left bladder blew. my new tube lasted about 3 mins. till i broke it. sounds about right.

anyway we decided to hoof it and try the shore. took a hike and casted out to find nothing. i was hoping for bass but was not prepared for shore fishing. after an hour or so some got bored. troutfingers brother asked why we would stay so late for nothing at which point we told him that in about 20 mins the lake would turn to glass and it would be on. about 20 mins later, the lake turned to glass and i managed to bring in 3 smallies on a perch rapala--my go to jordanelle lure. it was an unsuccessful
yet slightly successful outing.

Thanks for the report. It sounds like you need to take back that junky TU tube and get a nice Fish cat of Fat cat instead. You won't regret it. Glad you got a couple nice smallies for your efforts. It looks like you were at Rock Cliffs?

ya i've had several tubes before and i have been wanting to move up to a fish cat or fat cat but they are for people with big fat wallets. mine looks more like a malnourished perch. so i tried the TU tube. i cant decide whether or nat to take it back or just fix it. rigging it myself might be the easier route.

Take it back. At least get a new one of the same tube. If you cant swing the Fat cat try the ODC420. Over at sports they have the fish cat (with Sportsman's branded on it) for like 170.00

I don't know if your TU tube is a Kennebec or Togiak, but the old style Fish cat 4 (foam seats) is only about $20 more. Also, they have changed the style of the stripping apron and you may be able to score a sweet "close out" deal on the older version for the same price as what you paid for the TU tube or less. A buddy of mine got a FC4 for about $100 (scratch and dent) last fall.
At least, something to consider.
