I'm thinking about fishing Pineview for crappie from my canoe, or Yuba for perch from my boat. Any recent reports? Thanks.

[cool][#0000ff]No recent good reports on crappies from Pineview. The spawn is mostly over and the fish are not massed up near shore any more. Now you have to use sonar to find them in deeper water and they are often suspended in and around deeper stucture. Vertical jigging with small jigs works best and FINESSE is the word. Tough duty.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]The good news is that the perch are moving shallow at Yuba and more people are catching them. Again, use the sonar to find where they are holding and drop a jig with a piece of worm or perch meat to the bottom and then wiggle it a little. If they are there they will usually eat. They can be found in water from 6 feet to 25 feet deep. The best action has been in about 12 to 15 feet...off gravel or rocky shorelines. They are all around the lake, so it does not make a lot of difference where you launch. Just look a bit and you will likely find some.[/#0000ff] [signature] |
