Yes she is still hot on the Smallmouths. We lost two huge Browns at the net, over 10lbs. Lures worked loose after long fights on both fish at dusk.

[cool][#0000ff]That means they are still there for me...or someone with a more delicate touch.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Those tuna rods you use for trolling probably just ripped their mouths out.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There really are some piggy browns in there. I had one follow in a small perch I had hooked one time that looked like a big chinook salmon. [/#0000ff]

Long fights dig holes in there mouths, I don't know about horsing fish, never horsed them in. They were hooked on the new poles.

[cool][#0000ff]Just pullin' yer chain, Bro. I have plenty of "last minute losses" on those browns myself. Two years ago I was really snakebit. I had several big browns hooked through the year...lost 'em all before getting them to the net. I finally landed a 24 incher the last week of November...a skinny spawned out female. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You know you probably would not have kept them anyway but it is better to get them aboard for a picture before releasing them. More soul satisfying to be able to say "I caught them" than "I lost them".[/#0000ff]

Yes they would go free, it would be nice to say you landed them and let them go instead of the quick release.

Very true, but its better too see them than to imagine their size. At least you know what you missed out on.

[cool][#0000ff]That is a question you might post on the Idaho Board...if you haven't already. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In looking at the report on the [url "http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/cms/fish/"]IDAHO FISH & GAME WEBSITE[/url] it just says that fishing is good for walleyes, trout and bass.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]That lake is a long narrow body of water, with a lot of different structure and fishing challenges. The main launch ramp is at the dam, and there are some good walleye spots nearby. Also good for big trout. I think the state record walleye was taken about this time of year right across from the ramp, over some flats to the west of the ramp. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]We take our tubes up to the Big Sand Wash (???) area way uplake. Lots of good gravel banks, sandy flats and plenty of fish. I am sure there is a lot of good fishing between there and the dam, but we never had to look anywhere else. Couldn't get a jig to the bottom in 12 feet of water. Seven species in one day, on the same lures. Most walleye fans complain that they can't get through the big rainbows to get to the 'eyes.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Fish it like you do Starvation. The biggest walleyes are usually taken at night, casting big lures in shallow water.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Wish we were going with ya. We plan a trip after the first of September sometime. Leave a few for us.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, we brought home some fillets from SFC too. But, in case you haven't heard, there is an advisory for mercury contamination. Thanks miners.[/#0000ff]

Now Pat are you trying to stir the pot. No Wallyes wish I could catch one there to prove there in there. Might be some good sized ones being theres lots of forage for the toothy critters.
