My dad told me a guy caught a 12 lb rainbow, and it was on the nine oclock news, but I did not see it.

I have a hard time believing that they would put a 12lb Rainbow on the 9:00 news. A 16lber...maybe. But a 12? Heck, I've caught a 14lb rainbow flipping a jig for bass...I can't imagine a 12 being a big enough deal to put on the news...

A 12 pound rainbow is a big trout. I remember a 9 pound Cutt that was in the paper, on kutv news, won the photo of the week, and was published in the SAA weekly news letter. A 12 pounder is quite a bit bigger than that.
BTW Lets see that small, little, tiny 14 pounder you got while jigging for bass. Sure you didn't mean 14 inches?? [ ![]() [signature]

ha, I thought we already had this conversation about how bass fishermen catch way more big trout than actual trout fishermen do. har! Aren't you the one that caught some big cutthroat that you like to brag about? I've got news for ya...I've caught at least a dozen cutts that same size. Only reason I (and other bass fishermen) don't brag about it is the fact that we think those things are trash and it's just like catching a big carp to us.
As far as the 14lber goes, I caught it at a small lake in CA. And no, I don't have any pics of it because like I said...taking a picture of that fish would've been just like taking a picture of a big carp. I was embarrassed to have actually caught the thing, why would I take a picture so there was actual evidence? LoL [laugh] In fact, I would almost prefer that you just believe that I didn't catch it...the other bass guys might start making fun of me... [ ![]() [signature]

I hope somebody has a picture of this fish or something. I want to see it or at least hear the story that must have been one heck of a fish.

yea, catching a 12lb fish is only fun if its a bass... Are you kidding me? A 10lb+ fish is fun to catch no matter how you slice it. My 2-cents, a carp fights better than a bass.
Back to the thread. I'm still trying to get one of the big guys on my 5wt flyrod from my pontoon. Just lay the rod over your shoulder and kick! [signature]

hey alex ken chucks buddy. hey guys alex is hard core bass. he was fishing a turney with chuck and cught a 8 pound eye. kicked right back. remmember that dont ya alex. lol ya know chuck and i dont like slimmers mutch either. but catching fish any fish is better than a skunk trip. but i think you get to hit the gorge with us 1 time. after you jig up a 30 plus you might just enjoy this trout. lmaobt. havent seen a bass guy yet that didnt think this jigging was the hardest and most physicley demanding but rewarding he had ever done. im hardcore eye guy have been 20 plus yrs. but the last 4 ive chased the laker moore than the eye. we need to get out chuck you and myself and hit nelle for some top water soon.[

Any fish over 5lb is fun even a Blue Gill...
But a 9lb cut???? Do you have any pictures of it on the scales showing the weight???? We got 3 over 30" last year and all they went was 7.8 and the biggest was 8.4...[ ![]() ![]() ![]() Do you have any pictures of it on the scales???[ ![]() ![]() Just pulling your chain don't need or care if you have one.. People take pictures of what they want, not what you want.. Lighten up and go fishing and have fun posting what you want... [signature]

[cool] I don't know anything about this 16 pounder, but it's very realistic that one was caught. I've posted and reposted the news story in the D-News about the 17 pounder that was caught in '06 on the Soldier Creek side. Also, that same year an old fart that ice fishes it every day caught one the same size. I believe that was in March or April of '06.
Cheers. [signature]

I don't fish much for trout but don't mind catching them and throwin' them on the smoker. I even have pictures of them in my boat and I'm a bass guy. I don't know why you think bass fisherman are an elitest group of people who hate trout so please do not classify bass fishermen like you know them all. I'm not trying to make you my enemy just replying my 2 cents before this thread gets locked.
I haven't heard anything about this big rainbow but we know that they are in there. Some people take pictures... [signature] |
