First off i just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for being so informative!!! There is a ton of great stuff on here.
Anyway im a new member and a new owner of the Rouge pontoon from classic accessories. I really think this is a great boat. I had it out last weekend and had a blast. I did a few moifications such as addin a milk crate on the back rack for more secure storage of my tackle. I also added a 3 rod berkley fishing rod holder to the outside of the milk crate. I found that these 2 mods gave me a ton more room and keeps my rods out of the way while fishing but yet they are in easy reach, just over my left shoulder.
It seems like no one really likes this boat much!!! i dont really know why it rows nice, its really comfortable and super easy to fish off of. I got it for $419.00 on wal-marts web site. I think for the price this is a great deal for what u get compared to other boats on the market. This thin even came with the portage wheel which makes alot less trips to the car for your gear. i noticed a some people here have the Colorado by classic accessories and they seem to like it, i was just wondering why they chose that over the rouge? price maybe? features? They both seem very similar to me, i think they even have the same frame.
Now as a beginner pontooner i have one very important question. It deals with pontoon inflation. i just bought the air gauge that bass-pro and cabelas carry. got it in the mail the other day and figured i would see how it works. I inflated my one pontoon the the aprox pressure i normally fill it when i go out on the lake (pontoons are tight and nice and firm to the touch). I plug in the gauge and nothing!!! im like oh no the dumb thing dont work!!! well i blew into the gauge as hard could and i got to 1PSI. i figured that is normal for an average lung to blow from what someone told me before. so i blow up the pontoon even more and i got it to 1PSI on the gauge finally. it felt really tight, very firm. I took it up to 2PSI and stopped fearing the worst that my bladder would blow even though it said to inflate the pontoon to 2.5PSI. i'm just wondering what u guys inflate yours to, do u really need to have that much PSI??? I used my boat and did not even have .5PSI in the pontoons and it floated fine. Just need some opinions on this subject cause i dont wanna stress my bladders.
