Combo #2
#1
Didn't post Combo 1. Since this was mostly fishun, posted here. Went to the Web again and as you can see the Sparkinator and I had a good time again. Don't worry, released all the big uns. Only kept 1 big whitie and a couple of small trout for dinner. After catchun my fill, pulled a sneak and downed this drake with a long shot. Still batting 100% on my hittun (3 for 3 now). [Image: icon_eek.gif] Must be luck, I ain't that good. [Image: icon_redface.gif] Sparky made a great find and retrieve too. Love that guy. [Image: icon_biggrin.gif] What's for dinner----------, duck and fish again, yum!!!

Nice fish and pictures, but I don't think you should take credit for shooting that duck when your dog did all the work...[Wink][sly]

Now that we know the dog got ducks...

How do we know he is not the one who gets the bigger fish as well...[Wink][crazy][cool]

How I know this is cause my dog gets all the ones I post about...[cool][angelic]

Nice, Myself and Kokhead smoked a limit of ducks this morning in a hellstorm of fury! We had literally hundreds of ducks locked up into 6 dekes and a spinner. I was going to do a double on the weeb sunday but we went to Farmington bay before i got to fish. I will be back though, i saw a 10# brown from 2 feet away.[Wink]

Ok, I know you like my dog more than me but now I've got ya. [sly] In this case I do all the work, and more of a challenge then necessary because he insists on trying to help. I've lost more than a few big uns when they wrap around his legs when he is "helping". [laugh][laugh][laugh] He is listening better though. He now waits for me to let em go, especially the whities and then I say "ok" and he chases and dives. He's at about 50% catch rate. It helps if I let em go in the shallows. I figure he has to have "his" fun too what with standing there hrs. at a time waiting.

This is one is from the whole I fished this time. I've lost a few here and caught some big uns but not this big.[Wink]

P.S. So are you telling me that Farmington is hot now? I'm with you on WLMA's though. I don't know bud, I just like jump shooting if I can find em. No decoys, I'm on my feet moving, I get to "sneak" and they are the next best thing over the "chickens" when they jump. If you know of any remote pot holes, let me know (pm?).

I didn't know there were still places on the weber you could jump shoot ducks and not get the cops called on you for shooting to close to homes. Nice haul though...my dog goes after the fish too. He gobbled up a bass i caught over at holmes creek.

It is some sort of quacker stacker/trouttricker kind of club. He said i couldn't be in it. Just kidding, it is really a club he is a member of. There are places on the weeb you can still hunt legally.

Well, ----------, guess it's time to speak up with some explanation. Yes, Lunker is essentially correct even though he's having some fun with me. I can take it because he's a forum bud. [Wink] It is a private club that covers about 1 mi. of the river ( much more up in the hills) and is a very limited membership of just a few hundred and very reasonable $ just to cover his taxes. Most folks use it for big game hunting. There has been a waiting list to join and you have to wait for some of us old geezers to die to join. I feel this has been the best investment I have made in many, many years. The owner just died from cancer. [frown][frown][frown][frown] I'm realy concerned that this may be the last year for Sparky and I there. [frown] It would be a big, big, loss to us. I'm kind of reluctant to say where it is,------------, not sure why, please bear with me. [:/]

No problem...i totally understand. To bad about your friend, hope they don't sell off the land. Those sweet spots, close to home, good fishing, and hunting are few and far between.

How do you cook your white fish? I've heard they are good smoked....but I haven't tried them.

Would you believe, --------. [Smile] I fillet em, remove skin of course, pan fry em in butter after coating em with a dry coating like Panko, bread crumbs, etc., and cook em just like any other fillet. They have a soft texture, mild and are very good. Don't need to smoke em at all. They are as good as most any fillet. They are soft in texture though, not like a bass which is flaky.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give them a try. During the winter months, white fish are the main haul on the weber for me.

Earlier this year, my friend and I caught about 12 or so fish on the Weeb. We brought home a White fish and a Brown. We simply cut off the heads and tails, wrapped them in foil with butter and salt and lemon pepper, then threw them on the grill. It was hard to tell the difference between them. Both were good. Now I try to bring 1 or 2 home when I can.
