Sunday worship...tuber style
#1
[cool][#0000ff]Yeah, my soul was troubled. I felt constrained to attend worship services at the Church of the Seventh Day Angler. But, I knew not which chapel to visit. After much meditation, the spirit moved me to go cast my line upon the waters of Yuba, to the south.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I knew my decision was a righteous one, when I found only green lights before reaching the wide road known as I-15. And, when I paused at the Maverick Oasis, at the Highland offramp, I was further blessed by finding a $20 bill on the darkened parking area. My soul was filled with joy at having covered my breakfast burrito and most of my gas costs for the day of worship ahead.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My heart was pained greatly at finding 19 degree air temps and a cold westerly breeze awaiting my launch at the Yuba chapel. Those who forecast worship conditions had promised 27 degrees and no wind. I fear that the truth is not always in them. The calm they forecast did not occur until after I had left the water...as usual.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The water temperatures at the Yuba chapel were 43 degrees. That was several degrees warmer than my visit to the Willard Bay chapel the day before. However, the warmth was not sufficient to bring sweat to my brow. The truth is that my exposed fingertips were benumbed by the cold breeze...and the misty veil that issued forth from the water.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]It was my intent to convert as many local perchy worshipers as I could, and invite them home with me to be anointed with hot oil. Thankfully, I timed my visit during their "perchhood" meetings and it was not their "fast Sunday". They were very eager to accept the provenance (bait) with which I adorned my missionary tools (lures).[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In spite of having to return many unworthy (little) potential converts, I had my quota of ten righteous candidates in short order. Services did not last more than about an hour, and I did not fall asleep.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As I returned to my launch site, and prepared for departure, I was visited by a holy scribe from the exalted "Division". He looked upon my collection of converts and pronounced them to be good. According to the duties of his position, he examined each convert closely and recorded his findings in the book of (fish) life.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]My return home was calm and uneventful. The final blessing of the trip was watching an officer put the lights on some unrighteous bozo who almost blew off my doors, passing me in the construction zone. Yeah, there is a divine plan.[/#0000ff]

Nice to see the shots. We had to stay close Sunday, so went up to Tibble thinking a little shore fishing or light tubing.....ARGH! Frozen solid, except a little at the inlet....BUMMER! So we fished the river instead.
Any other hard water reports?

[cool][#0000ff]Huntington and Cleveland are both "walkable" now. Shouldn't be long for Scofield. Strawberry is still open all over, but after next weekend's storm and a big drop in temps you can look for Mud Creek to freeze fast, followed by most other protected coves and arms.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Unless it really turns deep cold...and soon...Jordanelle and Deer Creek should remain open for quite a while. I plan to make a trip soon to Rock Cliffs for some bows and browns.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]You gonna get out and try some fly casting into drilled holes in the ice this year? Really good casting practice, but tough to find much dry fly action. Of course, you can always troll off the back of a snowmobile.[/#0000ff]

No trolling. But, not much difference in my style of DEEP NYMPHING.[laugh]
