Canal fishing

I recently began fishing in the canal behind my house in southflorida iam wanting some pointers from anyone who is experienced in these kinds of murky canals.

i would use bright or extra shiny lures because of murky chocolate milk water that usually is found in most canals. Depending on what your fishing for I would also use something with a lot of scent or apply your own to a worm or something like that[fishon]
