What are some of your go-to crankbaits for catching fish? What colors do you find work best?

For Me, I really like the Rapala X Raps. I have caught so many fish on these in all conditions. I have had the best luck on white, but I have also had good luck with firetiger and perch. Pike, bass, crappie, catfish, walleye, carp, I have caught it all on the xrap. Good Luck[cool]

I must say i also love the X-Raps!!! They are awesome in the spring for pike! i love jerkin them around in the summer to for some really nice shallow water bass. My color choice? Well i love Clown for the pike and the Perch color seems to be a big hit for the bass in my area. Just seems to be a great bait for all seasons.

Rapalas for sure. The X-Rap is a good bait for tigers up here. It is not the best for them but they are effective. The jointed J-Series are better producers for most people.
The Jointed Shad Rap is my all time favorite trolling crank for trout, Wipers, walleye, catfish, and some others. I have caught countless fish on the Craw, Clown, Shad, and Perch patterns. The Original Floater in a size 7F Brown Trout is my favorite river fishing rap. The same in rainbow works well too.[cool]

I like the CD Rapalas in size 5-9 for big Snake River trout. I have not used them for bass but I guess I should give it a try. As for colors I lean toward gold, silver and rainbow.

Jounted rapalas and wiggleworts. Both with brown tops white belly. Blue backs have caught my biggest trouts. White fat shad luckys have done well for me last season as well.

I'm with you guys on the X-Raps. I use them quite a bit and get bass pretty often with an occasional pike which is fun.

I usually like to use a fire tiger, or a clown color, they seem to work the best. I've caught more walleye on the shiner/minnow color than bass.[Wink]

Yeah, I really like the minnow colored ones. Firetiger is prob what I have most luck on with bigger crankbaits for bass but I think it's usually a hit or miss.

I routinely try other brands, but Rapalas seem to always out fish everything else. I love the X-raps too, but countdowns produce well and the broken backs kill it during topwater season when worked slowly with pauses every 3-5 seconds.

Anybody tried any of the stuff over at extremelures.com - the things look all sorts of cool, but I haven't tried anything out yet.
