Fished for about 45 min. late in the afternoon back in WT. The creek is slowly clearing up and I did catch one fish off my brushpile, a small keeper. I fished two other spots close to the house but it was cold and breezy. I caught my biggest crappie of the year, just better than 14 inches and had a huge belly. It also was very deep from dorsal to pectoral fins. I think that it was my second biggest crappie ever, second only to that 3lber that's in the HOF. She looked to be a bit more than 2lbs. I caught both of these fish in similar spots. I was using a panfish assassin on a 1/32 oz jighead. That combo is my go to bait that's for sure. She hit at about a 4 count on my initial crank on the reel. At first I thought I had a bass or a catfish because when I set the hook it didn't budge. I even decided to use my net which I almost never do because I had felt some nicks in the line but hadn't taken the time to re-tie. I got the camera out to take a pic and the battery was dead so I let her go without one to be as sure as I could that she would pass on her genes. She was really thick with eggs (and probably shad). She swam away happy. I'd love to have lots more like her in the creek in the next few years.
