COLUMBIA, S.C.- Shakespeare® has donated more than $100,000 to the American Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF). A portion of the sales from Shakespeare® LadyFish series funded the large donation to help early detection of breast cancer in men and women. Shakespeare® began the program before 2007.
"The donations made to the ABCF is our way of giving back," Cara Finger, Pure Fishing Senior Product Manager, said. "Shakespeare® LadyFish™ series provides anglers with the opportunity to fund a worthy cause. We all must be aware of the dangers that are associated with Breast Cancer, and donating a portion of the sales from this series gets us one step closer to a cure."
The ABCF has financially assisted nearly 10,000 women and men for early detection of breast cancer. ABCF has been providing direct financial assistance to individuals for breast cancers screening and diagnostic tests since 1997.
The Shakespeare® Ladyfish™ series was created using lightweight actions and lengths, sleek grips, and reels sized specifically for women. The Shakespeare® Ladyfish™ series includes five spinning combos, three spincast combos, and nine rods.
For the 2009 season Shakespeare® is offering two new combos, a 4'6'' ultra light spinning combo and a 7'0'' big water spinning combo. The 4'6'' ultra light features a graphite rod, custom reel seat and grips, and a spinning reel with two ball bearings and an aluminum spool. The 7'0'' big water combo offers EVA grips and a lightweight feel, perfect for the female angler.
Shakespeare® is also offering two new rods for 2009 in the Ugly Stik® Ladyfish™ rod series, which has been making a big splash among female anglers on all bodies of water. The unique Howald Process™ design - available on all Ugly Stik® Rods - combines graphite and fiberglass to create the strongest most sensitive rod available. Ugly Tuff™ EVA grips are designed to give female anglers added comfort.
