Just a broken record here. If you read last week's report it is much the same. I use this forum as a log for my end of season ice fishing. Must be somewhat interesting, you're reading it.[:p] I just don't understand why no one ice fishes in the spring. Lots warmer!
Skipped Saturday because of the big storm so my wife, son, and I decide to get some sun and fishing in on Sunday. Lots of new snow on Elake. Probably two new feet of snow in the last two weeks. The bottom foot is slush...yuck. Ice is still holding up. Three good layers of ice with slush layers in between. The handle of my manual auger was turning in the slush/water before I broke through.[:/] We arrived at 9:30. There was already two truck there, so I had to shovel a place to park.[crazy] got down on the ice, holes drilled and fishing at about 9:30. Not real fast fishing. We caught the occasional fish, but not as fast as it had been in previous weeks. Nice day, good company, fun fishing. CO officer stopped by and checked us out. He walked all the way down the face of the dam to check us. That's dedication! Nice guy, and he liked our fish. We left about 3:00. I'll post a couple of pics. Warning: they will be large so don't click if you connection is slow.
Temp: 30 - 40
Wind: minimal
Fish iced: 18 all cutts
Ice 30+ inches of ice and slush, 12 inches of slush under 12 inches of snow.
Tackle: White glow jighead tipped with crawler.
