Short backpack trip help
#1
I need a place for a 1 to 3 mile backpack trip where we can fly fish. I also need it to be close. Does american fork canyon have any good spots?

Years ago, we would have the scouts cross the dam at Tibble Fork and hike a short ways up the trail towards Cascade Springs. We would camp close enough to hike back to fish.

Hope that is still a option.

american fork, and the surrounding canyons have streams flowing at the bottom of them.. these springs are chuck a block full of brookies and cutts. lots of brush and thicket though. another option is to travel up american fork to the tip top, there is a lake, I do not recall the name, but its a few miles up a steep grade. but it has some voracious feeders. I think I landed 50 fish in a three hour timespan. my fly never hit the water and did not get slurpped up. we even saw some dahl sheep on the way up there, and a few piles of bear crap. pretty neat lake though

Blanche, lily, and florence lakes are a fun place to camp and fish. Close too. Up Big cottonwood canyon. Maybe a three mile hike to get to blanche, with lily and florence being in close proximity. All have brook trout. The lakes are productive, and there are inlets and outlets to fish as well. Or you could hike up to lake mary and catherine, above brighton. They have brook trout as well. Mary is easy. Maybe a mile hike. Catherine is about another mile past that. Or why not just drive to silver lake flats, above tibble fork, and if you were feeling adventurous, hike to silver lake?
