Does Secret Lake have any fish in it??
#1
I took my family for a hike up to Secret Lake up Little Cottonwood Canyon last summer. It's a beautiful little lake, but I didn't see any fish in it. Lots of salamanders though. Does anyone know if there are any fish in that lake? And if not, Why?

[#008000]If you are refering to "Cecret" lake up at ALTA just below the Castle and Cecret Saddle, then most likely not. [/#008000]

[#008000]It is a draw down reservoir now that is used primarily for artificial snow making and limited other water supplies. [/#008000]

[#008000]I don't know for sure, but, I doubt that it ever did support a fish population as it is quite shallow and probably would be subject to winter kill. [/#008000]

Many years ago I had some friends in high school that would fish there. They could see the trout and sometimes catch one or two. There were not many fish but those that were there had some size. I have also been to Cecret Lake several times over the years. I have never tried to fish it because I have never seen any sign of fish. I have never heard of the DWR stocking it either. I wish they would try it though. The lake seems very similar to Lake Catherine which does sustain fish.,
