Lead sinkers in camp fire
#1
I have an old night fishing spot out in the middle of 'BFE' that I have been maintaining since I was old enough to drive (10 years).

I took my buddy to this spot last night. At day break we started cleaning up I noticed he was cutting off his snelled hooks and throwing the line (with sinker attached) into my fire pit. In total, he threw three 8 ounce egg sinkers in this pit.

My daughter and I both cook over this fire pit when camping. Should I be concerned about lead fumes and could this cause an issue when cooking food in the future? I'm little pissed off since these sinkers will continue to re-melt every time I build a new fire.

I make my pour my own jigs as well as other lead molds and have worried about breathing it in. I dont think i would worry about 8 oz. If you are you could always take a shovel and dig the bottom of the pit out or line it with 3 or 4 inches of dirt.
