I was just wondering if anyone else is struggling at Pineview this year. I've been out 4 times this year and have only 1 small muskie to my credit. I had another muskie break me off when I was trying for crappie, but I haven't seen any bass or crappie either. It's probably just me, but I usually have fair success and rarely get totally skunked. I've started to doubt myself and I'm feeling the sting of defeat. Has anyone else had a hard time out there?
Thanks

Everything is a few weeks behind normal at Pineview this year.
By mid June it should be good fishing.
At least that's what I'm waiting for.

Your not the only one. We went out Friday evening. Boat traffic was lite for Memorial Day. The fish should be around but we didn't catch any. We did not graph any fish til we went into the narrows in the no wake area by the dam. There is a no kidding...vast school of small fish holding at 12 to 25 feet. They showed up on both sonars and the side imaging. There were some larger fish in there too. I have no idea what they are but if they are last years fry from any fish they are providing some big eats for the fish in the lake. The water temp in the cove we went into was 70' but at 8 feet it is 57. The smallies should be biting.

Don't worry, it has not be good for me this year either. I've been out 3 times and I only had one big one follow my lure but no take. I'm still crossing my fingers and planning on trying when the water is warm and others start to have more success.
I combed a vast section of the reservior one day and it is true, there are large schools of small fish in the narrows. Larger fish were hanging around them, and I got to depth with a downrigger but they were probably stuffed with baby crappie and perch. This was two weeks ago, and they were 40 to 70 feet deep. I think the narrows and sections of shoreline close to that area are the best bet for any muskies at the moment.
