First time out
#1
After weeks of preparation, and months of reading and research I finally got my maiden voyage. My wife gave me the Friday after work fishing pass (so she could shop) so I jumped at the chance. Reached out to my partner in crime but he was a no go so I packed up the tube and took a drive. Went to a little no wake lake in NW Omaha and was ready to go. Pumped up the tube, strapped on the waders, watched a boat launch and took my turn.

All I can say is Holy S#$T, I can't believe I have waited this long to get one of these and use it. Actually it was my old job and no free time but hey. As TD predicted I was frustrated at my rod rack 30sec in to my journey. I was to excited to get on the water and forgot to strap it to the bottom. oops. Other than that my ODC 420 performed like a dream. I am a big dude, and I had all the confidence I needed.

Kicked out to some spots I had not fished since Hard water season and giggled like a teenage boy seeing boobs for the first time! Started tossing crank baits with noting. So I switched to a jig and spinner and got my first fish from a tube. Nothing to brag about other than it being a first. I think I spent more time figuring out how to maneuver and play the wind.

I just want to say thanks to all who answered all my juvenile questions. This style of fishing is so fun, I am glad to leave the bank behind!!

CONGRATS !!!!!!!!!!!

I know the feeling. Now that i have float tube (SFC)
I dont want to fish any other way.

just have fun with it and enjoy. After couple of times
out on the water you will get everything the way
you like it and then just let the good times role.

Laters Peter.

BM: congrates on the maiden voyage and glad to see that you enjoyed it so much and also weren't "skunked"! Float tubing is "the Cat's Whiskers" as far as I'm concerned:o) Nice rig you got yourself there. You WILL catch MANY fish from it with a little patience and practice. I went out SEVEN times on my H3 before I caught my first bass!! Now I catch several each trip, "knock on wood". One last thing - the only stupid/dumb/foolish question is the one you don't ask. I know I certainly asked a LOT when I started tubing last year!! The guys and gals on this Fantastic Forum were eager to answer all of them too!!

Congrats. Hope you are able to make the Regatta.....We had it at Walnut Creek last year.....Not sure this year. Made it out myself again today....and had an off day, only caught 8 fish....I thing the "late spring bite" is slowing way down, now we have to work for them for a couple of weeks.

Dusty do you have any suggestions on good places to tube around our area? I have heard 2 rivers, and you said walnut, and Z.

Thanks[/quote]

I will send you the details via IM on our local board....But a quick answer that really applies to tubers and tooners everywhere is: "Anyplace where the power squadron is not allowed to go" Smile. The best pond side sign we can see is: "Electric motors only", and the absence of a concrete boat ramp is like heaven to a tuber.
