Well I was home a few days ago, visiting my folks in Draper when I decided to drive up Big Cottonwood canyon. I originally wasn't planning on fishing but saw them jumping in the stream so I figured why not? I usually use my fly rod but only had my spinning rod, so i used that and using a golden panther martin ended up catching 4 fish and had twice as many strikes. I couldn't move around too much, due to the high runoff, but I seemed to catch them by casting my spinner towards brushy areas and letting the stream work the spinner. So if anyone lives near bcc, don't hesitate to give it a try!

[cool]I haven't fished that creek in many years, but I used to do well dunking a grasshopper or worm in the softer moving water for Browns and I think I caught a brookie once too...

you know because it's a mountain creek the fish usually don't get past 10 inches, and the fish I caught were small brookies, i'd say about 8-9 inches. They do fight for their size and are pretty dang fun to catch nonetheless.

Thanks, I am going to give it a try since it's close.
By the way, do you know if silver lake up there has any fish at this time? I know it hasn't been stocked yet.

I took my little girl there to get her first trout last year. It can be a battle getting through brush to spots that haven't been fished to death, but once we did, we caught a TON of those little brooks.
I rigged my flyrod to give her some reach and had her drift 1/2 a worm through the holes and riffles. She had a great time, and so did I.
