Just now getting around to posting from the 16th. My 6 year old son and I started around 8am and looked for deep fish. It seems the fish have finally moved out to the usuall spots for me. We caught numerous fish in the 1 1/2-2 lb range. I think they would hit anything, but we used senco worms and DD22's. Lost the biggest Bass I've ever hooked up with. The wind had gotten pretty rough out of the South and had blown me off the mark. I was reeling a worm up pretty fast so I could get lined back up. Just as the worm hit the surface next to the boat, this huge bass grabbed it and stripped off about 15 yards of line. I got him turned and played the fish and got him back boat side. My son had the net ready but his little arms just couldnt reach out and get him. The fish made another short run back to the bottom. After a little more playin I got him back to the boat. I grabbed the net and tried to scoop him up. I got his tail in the net when he shook his head one last time and spit the hook back at us. I was shaking like a leaf and felt like crying. I think he would have gone 7-8lbs. Ive caught 5 lbers and this fish would have dwarfed them. Wish I had got my son to take pics of the fight and the fish while it was still in the water, but I guess it will have to be another fish tale. We caught lots of fish and most would have kept. We stopped with the fish still biting but the little guy had had enough. Went back out that evening with my middle son but with the dog fights going on, there was a boat on every spot that I wanted to fish. Still managed another "just keeper" bass and my son caught a cat fish. My bass Condos are still holding bait but I'm afraid to fish them with all the boats on the water. I'd like to catch a few and keep it to myself for a while before it becomes community hole # 11.
