I set out to try the upper weber today and the water was still a bit high and a little murky, so I headed to the middle by Coalville. Started out at noon and didn't have a bite for the first hour; tried a bunch of different flies and different weight distributions, still nothing. So, I tried a couple more holes and about 1:00-2:30 the fish were really feeding. I threw a prince up top and a red san juan down below, rainbow on. Fought him for a couple of minutes and all of the sudden it felt like a log. I thought I was snagged, but there was a whitefish that decided to join the party on the top fly. There was no way I was reeling both these fish in and sure enough there went the rainbow with my last red san juan. I did reel the whitefish in though. Fishing slowed again, so I threw on a red copper john and a lightning bug with four No.4 sinkers. When I could keep the whitefish off of the lightning bug a trout would hit the red copper john (size 14). I ended up catching 2 browns, 2 rainbows, and an estimated 20 whitefish out of two holes between 1:00 and 2:30. I didn't have my phone with me, I thought, until it rang in my waders. The only fish I could photo at that time was whitefish (trout tapered off and it was all whitefish towards the end), and who wants to look at those things. I didn't see any risers or any considerable hatch. On the way back to the car I did see some bigger midges hatching. It can only get better from here on out, as long as the farmers irrigate a little to lower the rivers.

way to go. whites r alot of fun. about how big were they? i am goin on thursday i should be there about 1 -130 and will fish the rest of the day. did u try any hoppers? were about did u fish? i was goin to go to wanship but if its better there then i might head out that way. thanks for any info

I was up there last thursday.. I hooked one nice brown.. 19".. I also caught plenty of whitie.. I would say 14-15".. I tried hoppers but with no luck yet.. i was using san jaun worms & green hares ears.. Good luck to ya

I was by dairy lane (or creamery lane, something to do with cows milk). There are some good holes there. I think anywhere on the middle will be good. From the campground/gas station at Coalville to Echo there are bigger browns (from experience). I didn't try any hoppers, but they are starting to come out. I wanted to try from wanship underpass to rockport, but there were 4 cars parked there, so I moved on. That area used to be private fishing where only four passes at one time were sold, so it must be good. I think I will be fishing it the next three days or so, and I will make sure I got the phone cam handy to get some pics. Good luck!

yea the spot in wanship under the overpass is great. i havent fished it since the run off but the smallest i ever got from there was 14inchs and the biggest was 24 inch. lots of whities to. thanks for all ur info ill post on friday and let u know how i did and on what
