Mamatrout was watching this with me and as she put it "that's one way to get around". I think they have a pretty neat idea, but one way to get really wet too. [:p] I did see some mods on one of the boats.[sly]

[cool][#0000ff]I knew guys who did that way back when we had round tubes...round STONE tubes. (Yeah, that old) No doubt it can move you along faster when the need arises.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]I got two problems with it. First, I am of large girth and reduced physical agility. Old and chunky. Second, I like to fish between points A & B. The only reasons I could see for "motatin'" would be to get to shore faster in an emergency or to beat a fast approaching storm.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]It would also be more difficult in a fully pimped ride such as my Fat Cat. I would get all tangled up in the rod racks and utility rack. And what do you do with a basket full of kitties while you are thrashing the water to a froth...trying to go straight ahead. [/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Like a lot of things related to fishing, that method of propulsion is more of a novelty than a practical means of fishing from a float tube.[/#0000ff] [signature]

Not a bad idea. I can see that. Allot of people don't venture away from launch in a tube for fear it will be too hard to get back. That is where the pontoon stepped up with the kicking or the rowing.
This just opened up a whole new way. If I still had a tube I know I would be going farther realizing I CAN get back to shore even in the wind. I would wonder if some water goes into the waders however, and waste highs are definitely out. TD, you got the right flippers![laugh] I got to admit, that would be a sight see you turn around and kick away though![angelic] Great vid Pon...like I said, you opened up the waters a little more and that is a good thing! Just hope people are careful doing this, I see someone sliding off and not being able to get back on, or loosing allot of gear. I think you could still do this even with the racks. [signature]

I was thinking you could strap some kind of jet pack on your back and you would not even have to kick. "Rocket Toon Man" away!

LMAO[laugh]
Seriously though, we go to lakes all the time but we launch at the area we think we want to fish. Kind of stuck there for the most part. Ex. launch at Ladders, but thinking Renagade would be better....have to load up and drive there then launch again. Same thing at other lakes we go to. Not saying you would want to go that far, but you would be able to go farther. Oh and the example I gave....that is why we are going to get a 6 hrsp motor. [signature]

Good video ,but I'll pass. lol
My grandsons have done that a lot when just playing in the float tubes. I've seen them travel quite a ways out and back with only bare feet and no fins in a Fish Cat#4. Illinoisgiller [signature]

Thought about it but haven't tried it that in my ODC. The second part of the video reminded me of when I used to cross the Intercoastal along the Texas coast in an old belly boat in order to reach flats to wade for reds. Because of speeding shrimp boats and other fast traffic, I had to cross quickly. There was no time to kick as usual, so I released the crotch strap, rolled over, held onto the back of the tube with my arms, holding rods in my hands, and "swam" across the chop as fast as I could. Still, although nothing was visible in either direction when I started out, a couple of times I had to go into overdrive to stay safe.
I'm thinking of going the other direction now that winter is near -- finding something that'll act like a "booster seat" to raise my frosty butt to water level or higher while still allowing my fins to move me. [signature]

Just remember, as long as the water isn't FROZEN it could be warmer than the air[]
