Now that all of the Jackson Hole and Mt guides have thinned I guess I'll share some info...
Fishing has been amazing! Every evening if you fish the last 90 min of light...pmd's are the ticket! However-once it get's almost where you can't see - fish something like a yellow humpy-size 12..."skip it" from downstream to upstream and let it drift back....Can't even tell you how many cuts I've landed in less than 12 inches of water and the average fish is between 14-16 inches! [cool]
Fishing hasn't been this good since before the flood in '97...I've fished the SF for 30yrs with my fly rod and I'm telling you, if you haven't fished it...this is the yr to do so. Now that the crowds have thinned it's even more of a reason to get out. Any riffle will produce but floating a section is your best bet-I prefer just doing so in my pontoon and pulling over to each riffle. Good luck and I'll see you out there!

oh yea...!![cool] deep runs will be full of browns. Try super X during the day. Also throw a double bunny in the evening. stopped by a canal this afternoon-2 casts with a hopper and landed an 18 " brown! Gotta love the SF!! Your favorite nymphs will most likely produce fish but don't be afraid to go BIG-(like the super X).

Sounds like a great place. We are not just fly fishers, I love to huck rapalas and metal. I've also had some of my best luck in deep runs fishing large streamers with the spinning rod. You can really get 'em down and cover a lot of water even if the wind is howling.

I'm kinda lacking in the streamer department [frown] would it be a sin to ask what some of the productive patterns are?

did you get out? I ended up on Henrys-headed there tomorrow as well. I'll try to post some pics of we get anything big. Last Friday only 18" cuts were the average-one guy with us managed to get a 4lb hybrid but no pic on my camera.
