Mantua reservoir this Friday, Need Help!
#1
[Smile]As you all can see, I have just finished the UL post and have already begun posting for the next weeks' trip.

I have never been to Mantua, tho have heard good things about small fish in large numbers. I will be taking 3 kids ages 16, 12, 11 So I want to put them in front of some fish, they are looking for quanity, not size. We will be going this friday afternoon. We should arrive at about 3pm and plan to stay till dark.

Any tips or recent reports on this lake? As i said, i know nothing about this Res, so Locations, Bait, Rigs...anything is a help. PM me if you want.

Thanks a Ton for any help you can offer. This is an awesome site with awesome people, So thanks again!!!

We went there today, and the water is extremely murky, and green. No visibility. We've gone there the past few weekends, and have done well. Today not a bite. Maybe next week will be better, but I'm not sure.

Went last night, and had a blast. All species were active. Used a basic worm and bobber rig.

We went Friday and as mention earlier worm and a bobber setup worked best. Initially tried drop shot rigs but the weeds have really taken over. Most fish were caught cruising the bank and shore line.

Take allot of worms for the kiddies the gills have perfected there snach and grab technique. [Wink] or if you can find them senko use to make a 2 inch Baby Senko they work like a charm. You might be able to order some off of senkos site.

I took a few kids and fished the south east side of the lake from a small boat. We used a small ratso jig usually used for ice fishing tipped with a quarter of a night crawler under a bobber. Using the small jig was nice because if you lost your worm they would still hit the plain hook so you didn't have to constantly re-bait. we were only about 20 yards from shore, fast action but nothing big.
