Friday took the kiddos to Willow Pond in Murray with some friends. caught my first catfish there, was a good one little channel approx 2 or 3 pounds.
went to clean the fish and found the bones in the head and the spines in the pec fins and dorsal. so my question is this.
what is the proper way to clean a catfish? I sliced him from the anal opening to the pec fins but could not get through the bone, I ended up cutting his head off around the pec fins and such to get the bony plates off of him, but I think I "wasted" alot of good fish by doing that from the fleshy sides up to the gill plates. [crazy]
is there a way to clean a cat that works better to get more of the meat out of them?
