Cold Scofield, Hot Fishing
#1
A friend of mine invited me to go to Scofield Reservoir with him yesterday. A friend of his had given him a key to a new cabin just built there. We had planned on fishing Scofield two days. When we arrived at the cabin around 2:30 pm, the key to the cabin didn;t work. It was extremely cold, and the breeze made things even more uncomfortable. We talked about just going back home because it was so cold, there were no boats on the water, and only a few people were fishing from the shore. However, after we ate a few sandwiches we decided that we would fish for an hour or two and then go home. Good decision! We launched the boat and trolled for a few hours. We both put on Crystallina spoons. I used a chartreuse spoon, and he used a purple-orange spoon. I caught the first fish and then there was nonstop catching. When the fishing slowed down a little with the Crystallina spoon I used a red and yellow spoon I had made from a Carter spoon blank. The fishing picked up again and continued until we were too cold to stay in the boat any longer. We caught only native and rainbow trout--no tigers. All of the rainbows were frying pan size. We caught some larger natives. We threw back all of the native trout and kept a few rainbows for the table. I didn't have my camera with me so I didn't get any pictures of the fish, but I did take a picture of the two spoons I used. The smaller spoon is the Crystallina spoon and the larger one is the spoon I made from the Carter spoon.

Sound like a fun trip Lloyd. Too bad about the cabin.

[#0000ff]That homemade paint job looks like you had been sniffing some PVC glue before you did it. Pretty exotic. But, as we have discussed before, if the fish vote for it that's what counts.[/#0000ff]
