I live in the Pocatello area and want to take my 14ft aluminum boat out one last time my brother is with and hasn't really been out in it yet. I was wanting to know if there is any good fishing ANYWHERE in this area??? I'm not after big fish or the honey holes just want to get a cpl of fish to put in the boat, and have a good time out with the big bro.. Thanks ahead of time and will post how we do and where we went thanks...

Gem lake is pretty good on a small boat. It is located south of Idaho falls. it has a good stock of trout that I have caught in the past week. Its the snake river with a dam on the south and north side.

Will tell you what works for me since peeps have been very helpful to a newbie like me.
I have only been to gem lake a couple of times on a small 12 ft boat I recently borrowed from a friend of mine. The hole I found is north of the bridge that exits at dad's gasoline exit. I live in blackfoot so not sure what exit number this is. I put in at the dam on the south end of gem lake. if you exit at dad's gasoline exit (chevron is here too, turn right on the road right before you cross the river) this will take you to the boat ramp at the south side.
There are two small islands on the east side up bout 1/2 mile north of this bridge(exit you just took to get to the dock). I have anchored up about 15 yards north of the most north Island. I cast towards the center of the river and retrieve a worm with 2-3 split shots about 2 feet above my worm. Its a slow retrieval and I usually land one every 2-3 casts. I have always caught rainbows up to 14" max. Its really fun for my wife and I. I have trolled up to this hole with worms and i catch 1 or two on the way up. Spinners have worked for me too. I have been skunked with rapalas. Like I said I am new so not sure what I am doing wrong with the lures here during the troll up there.
The second time we tried here we went up all the way to the north part of the lake at the dam and we got skunked and caught two suckers trolling back to the hole by the bridge. this hole has been reliable for catching fish, i don't keep fish, but you will catch some here for sure. Last time I went I found some people anchored south side of the bridge(actually tied off to the bridge) they were casting towards the bowies on the south side and catching them consistently.
good luck hope this helps.

No problem, the place I described to anchor up at is always been good to me 3of3 times. Its tempting to cast towards the shore cuz of the brush but I seem to do tons better casting towards the center. I did catch my first fly rod sinking line setup here too.
hope you find it and have a good time,
