[cool][#0000ff]If anybody would like a copy of the PDF file writeup I have just completed on White Bass, you can PM me and I will send it to you. It is 22 pages, with lots of pictures...covering seasons, hotspots, tackle and techniques, etc. It is just over 1 Mb file size and you need Adobe Reader to open it.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have fished Utah Lake for over 40 years and have accumulated a pretty fair knowledge of the lake and its denizens...both from a scientific and an angler's viewpoint. I am in the process of putting together a comprehensive book on the lake...history, species, ecology, and all that good stuff. Of course the big focus is on fishing.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have been getting a lot of PM questions on white bass recently so I went ahead and finished at least a rough draft of this chapter for my book. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Sorry, but I don't want to just post it up for general readership. And, I reserve the right to restrict to whom I send it. But if you like whities and/or want to get some of my perspective on them, I will be happy to forward a copy. No charge. [/#0000ff]

Nicely written. You should consider publishing your work when finished. It could be a hot sell here in the state.

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Just a reminder. I only posted the first 3 pages, to give an idea of the tone, etc. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I will ultimately publish when it is complete, but will not be going "paper". I will probably put it in CD form as I did with my book on float tubing. Makes it less costly and more affordable.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hmmmmmm. Ice fishing season is coming up and you probably need more stuff. But flattery is always acceptable.[/#0000ff]

Great work Pat as always, pls send one my way. I was surprised to learn, at a recent June Sucker meeting that I attended, that the white bass is also the most prolific predator in Utah Lake.

[cool][#0000ff]As you will see in the last paragraphs on the last page of that writeup, I acknowledge the piscivorous potential of whities in the overall ecology of the lake. While walleyes probably eat more June suckers of various sizes...individually...the sheer numbers of white bass and their insatiable appetites probably account for more losses among small sucker fry.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]That's probably the main reason we will never see any restrictions on size or numbers when it comes to white bass. [/#0000ff]

This seems a very articulate and well written work thus far. If you need any editing or other contribution, feel free to let me know. It looks like you could go paper with something like this.

[cool][#0000ff]Sending you the complete 22 pages of rough draft. I recognize your qualifications both from your educational background and your experience on Utah Lake...especially with whities. [/#0000ff]

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to testing some new ideas (new to me). Darn it, I guess I'll just have[/b][/i] to pick up some new tackle as well.

Not sure how you find time to fish, post to this forum and write books, are there more 24 hours in your day.
This book is a must read for anyone going to fish Utah Lake.
Heading to the knolls Sat. night or Sunday.
Thanks

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks for the kindly comments. Glad you found something of value in the writeup. Hope it helps.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]More than 24 hours? Aha! You have found my secret. I believe that everybody could use another 6 hours in every day...to do silly things...like sleeping. So, I invented the 30 hour day.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Simple. I just took an old round windup clock, and replaced the numbers of 1 - 12 with 1 - 15. Works like "clockwork". But family and friends think I'm wierd when I tell them I will see them at "14 o'clock". They think I am going military or something. My little secret.[/#0000ff]
