Has anyone tried the Clearwater recently? Will be fishing it this Wednesday, from shore. Any help is appreciated. Mike

Friends have been boat fishing the river and catching a few nice fish...not a hot bite, but that could improve if flows increase.

I was up in the area this past week and saw lots of bankies out, both spey guys and bobber floppers. Plenty of roadside access for this and saw guys fishing from the bank along the upstream side of Asahka boat launch.

BTW, my fishing time was spent on the Snake where things have slowed a bit and a high perentage of wild fish in the catch reduced take home bounty.

Thanks, Dean, for the update. We were going to take the boat up and fish the confluence in Lewiston, but with all the snow predicted, that can be a long haul from Boise!! Mike

Yeah, dragging a boat up there in snowy weather can be a white knuckle experience....been there, done that.

I was up there and fished from Monday through Friday - all on the Snake. Spent most of our time boat fishing from Church Camp boat launch up to and past Heller Bar. Frustrating the ratio of wild to hatchery fish, but at least we got to bring some fresh fillets home. Side drifting with eggs was the ticket for us and seemed to out produce other venues.

One day we put in at Asotin ramp and did okay fishing the area upriver, and across from the ranch barn and mobile home [on ID side].

I'll be going back up for the Veterens' Day Holiday weekend with friends. More than likely fish the Clearwater then.
