I got a smokin' deal on a Fat Cat tube though I love the inflatable seat in my Fish Cat IV dx. Does anyone know if I can put the inflatable seat inserts into the Fat Cat standard? I know the foam may not fit well in the DX seatback based on just looking (curved vs straight top edge) but how about the other way around?

[cool][#0000ff]In our tubing fambly we have both old and new models of both the Fat Cat and the SFC. Naturally I have tried messin' with the seats...putting foam in the inflated seat pockets and inflated seats in the foam pockets. When it comes to the Fat Cat line the seat pockets are essentially the same. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Not sure about the dimensions of the Super Fish Cat. But, I am guessing the foam seat would fit fine in the Fat Cat. Both are about 19" across the seat. And when it comes to inflatable, the seat expands to fit the space and shape alloted. The seats on the SFC are actually OVERSIZED, so they never completely expand within the pocket space. I am guessing it will be similar for the FC 4 Deluxe. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Best way to find out is to stuff it in and air it up. Stop before fully inflated to check for cozy fit.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I know that the current inflatable seats are TOUGH. When my tube was wind-ripped off the top of my vehicle recently, it was run over by at least a couple of trucks. The air chambers and the inflated seat survived the trauma, but the sewn cover split seven ways to Sunday. The inflated air chambers and seat covers are pretty sturdy.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have also known of a couple of guys who have bought a Fat Cat and then aftermarket purchased the inflatable bottom seat cushion. Some like one better than the other. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]My personal opinion is that the inflated bottom seat gives a much firmer ride with less "collapsing" inward of the two sides when fully inflated and with the angler seated for action.[/#0000ff]

I think they are like $ 60.00 for the seat. I have Emailed
them once about it but nobody emailed me back.[:/]
Customer service is not the best.

OUCH!! Is that for both pieces? I guess that makes sense as that's about the price difference between the two boats...

[cool][#0000ff]The inflatable seats ARE costly. But, they are very well made and very strong. Not sure they are worth what Outcast charges for them.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Just for the record, the lower seat cushion on my SFC I bought two years ago had a seam failure. My fault because I had it aired to the max and left it sitting in the sun on a hot day. But, when I called customer service at Aire Mfg. and explained the situation, they sent me a new one at no charge. Didn't even have to provide proof of purchase. I just told them I bought the unit on line and that was good enough. Hmmmmmmm?[/#0000ff]

The thing I don't get is they are made in CHINA, but the price stays the same as when it was made in the USA. Just because the NAME.
AIRE use to be the USA best, but not anymore. Oh they are still good, but made over seas and at a "TOO HIGH OF PRICE".
That is the reason I WON'T buy one.
But I also don't know if I would try to score one either...I am such a pussy.[blush]
