Salmon Falls Res. Newbie
#1
As a kid I remember a cold day in North Dakota where my dad took by brother and I fishing on the Missouri. We caught our limit of "eyes" on Thanksgiving Day.

I want to try Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir (first time) if not too cold this weekend. Will take boat and camper (and lots of warm clothes).

Looking for best rigs this time of year and maybe where to start on this loooooong reservoir.

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully someone from that part of the state will reply. I just don't know much about that lake. Let us know how it goes.

Welcome to the forum. I have fished Salmon Falls the last two weekends. I target Eyes earlier in the year but not in the fall. We fished for trout the last two weekends. The first weekend we caught 15 trout between two of us, (let all go) that ranged between 15 and 22 in. The second 5 fish between 13 and 16 in. All caught with a broken back perch rapala. We have also caught eyes with the same rig trolled between 1.5 and 2 mph. None the last two trips. Most eyes we catch are with a bottom bouncer and worm rig.

Good luck.

OK, thanks for the replies.

I have a few different rigs from some Colombia River fishing that I can try including the bottom bouncer.

If I can't get em to bite, well, the trout fishing sounds fun.

If you stop in at the store in Holister (right by the higway) They might have some ideas for you and you can see some of the mounted Walleye that have come out of Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir.

Ohterwise Grey's landing, Big Sand Bay, or Norton Bay might be a good start.

If you have a boat that needs a ramp and dock you will need to go thru Hollister and unload by the dam and then travel down the reservoir to the south, but again the people at the store will havve any current news.

Yep, will need the boat dock and stopping in Hollister sounds like a plan.

Thanks for the info Michael.
