Kind of new to BFT.
#1
I joined BFT a year ago, but have really been inactive. Got into ice fishing last year, but didn't get to go too much. I've been a few times so far this year up here in Northern Utah. I am hoping to go a lot more, but with school starting back up in a week, it will be a little tough, pretty much limiting me to the weekend.

I have been fishing at Mantua, Newton, and Hyrum so far up here. Sorry for not posting things sooner, but here's how things went.

Dec 15 on Mantua - 1st trip this season. Fished for about 4-5 hours. Between the 2 of us, we probably brought in 25-30 fish. We caught perch, bluegills, bass, and trout. The picture below is a little more than half of our keep. We had some more bluegill and another largemouth.

Dec 16 on Mantua - Went back with a different friend. We were fishing in about 7-10 feet of water. No pics because we didn't keep any. Just wanted to catch a bunch, and we did. Fished for about 4 hours and caught probably 25 trout between the two of us.

Dec 19 on Mantua - Went back again with a friend and met another there. Again no pics. Sorry about that. Between the three of us, we probably caught 30 fish. Fished for about 3 hours, catching trout, bluegill, perch, and bass.

Dec 19 on Hyrum - Left Mantua and met others at Hyrum. Very slow with all of us catching one fish though.

Newton - Not sure of the dates, but I have been out there three times. I have fished all over near the dam and spots all up the reservoir. No luck yet. I've only had one bite.

I am hoping to head up to East Canyon in the next few days. I went twice last year and had a lot of success.

My advice to you is to get through school and concentrate on your field. Great fishermen give full attention to the sport. Make time for what you love by taking care of what you need to.[Wink]

Oh trust me, school is the priority. But I do still enjoy fishing and will do it as much as my time and wife will allow. It helps me deal with the stress of school. But I appreciate you comment and agree with you. Many others have told me the same. But I'm still going to enjoy my hobbies too.

I understand. I just finished last spring and used to fish the summer and breaks only. It sure helps with the stress.
