Perch Cleaning!
#1
This is incredible! I can't wait for my Marcum to come in so I can maybe find some perch to catch and try this technique on!

I watched this same video the other night. I have not tried it yet since I like to fillet mine and then batter and fry them. It is a very slick way of cleaning them.

This is the video that shows how I fillet them. Works quite well.

I like both videos. Here is a link from last year showing the same technique except on tiny perch from Roberts last year.

Supposedly it will work on trout, but I have yet to catch a trout in the last few weeks worth filleting.

I wish we still had a place to take kids like that!

You gave a lot of kids a memory they will never forget.

My hat is off to you and your fillet knife! [Image: happy.gif]

that is crazy! We do catfish like the second video shows. but I gave up fileting perch because so much meat gets wasted. I can't wait to try the first technique on the perch.

southerners (like myself) remove the scales from perch and bluegill then remove the head and guts. the fish is then covered in corn meal with salt and pepper then fried in hot oil. terrible for you but hard to beat on the table!

I wish I could show you in person how I fillet perch. I can fillet dang small perch in 30 sec. each without waisting any meat. With the small ones you get a fish stick off each side.[laugh]

I agree. With a sharp flexible knife a perch fillets really clean. The scales are a bit hard on the edge however. [Image: bobwink.gif]

Most of the guys that fish them a lot use electric fillet knives.
