My wife is taking me on a fishing trip for Valentines day down to Fish Lake (Sunday through Tuesday) and i'm pretty excited for it. She even told me she went on here (BFG) and asked for everyones help of where to go, and Fish Lake is where everyone says its at (Thanks to anyone and everyone who helped her out by the way, she was really struggling on where to go). I've never been there so if anyone has hints or tips they'd like to share that would be really appreciated. If you don't want to tell everyone and just want to PM me thats fine as well. I just want her to have a good time as well because this is her first time out on the ice. (thats her main present is she's coming with me because I'm always trying to get her to come every time i go out). I'll have a great time regardless but i want her to enjoy it was well. Anything will be helpful I'm Sure!
Thanks a Million
Mike

I know I speak for a lot of us here...HOLD ON TO THAT WOMAN! I can't get my wife to go fishing under any circumstances.
I've never been to fish lake. I know my dad loves that place and goes up there every year--he's from Vegas area.
Have fun and congrats!!!

Wow that would be a real bummer to not have your Wife enjoying such a great thing like fishing. Mine does always, even out on a 25 day fishing trip too the middle of no where and land not within 500 miles and catching giant Yellowfin tuna right next too me. Even catching a bigger one by 20bs (242) and this woman is only 125 lbs. Guess you kinda picked someone that doesn't enjoy the same fun times. Don't know what that would be like.

My wife and I use to ice fish quite frequently in North Dakota years back. I really hadn't ice fished much in the last 20 years due to my AF duty locations. This year I somewhat cranked it up a tad. The problem was my wife was somewhat skittish in regards to wintery conditions etc. Several weekends ago I purchased a portable ice house and last weekend she accompanied me. Well I believe I have a fishing partner for life. She was comfortable, caught a few fish and we will be out Saturday giving it another run. My suggestion is to make the lady comfortable. If she gets out there and becomes cold it won' t be a memorable moment.

You can probably read from other post, but yes there is slush all over fishlake. I was there last weekend and hit patches all over the lake as I was headed to the East side on my ATV. I think a snowmobile should be ok still, but I know that they got more snow in the past couple of days.
Lots of people do well just a out a few yards on the West end, but I think the fast fishing is on the other side.

Just make sure you get away from all the people. if you can make it to the east side even better, get in about 35 feet of water and you'll catch plenty. Perch are on the bottom trout are suspended
