I was just wondering, since I'll be on the ocean in 2 weeks, what have the Perch been bitting on this year? I usualy catch them on Sand Shrimp and Clam Necks, but that really isn't that relyable. I caught 1 that was 5 pounds this time last year, and he came out of Yaquina Bay. He was gorgous! He's now in the process of being mounted, and I had to give my only picture to the taxidermist. Anyway, how do you catch them consistantly? What # of line do you use? What rods and reels? Just let me know. Thanks.

Well I myself like to use my steelehead rod and reel but most i see out there are useing a bit larger. I use 8-15 pound test with my steelhead rod and it makes them a blast to catch. They have been catching them pretty consistantly but the tide changes do have an effect on when the bite is better and i believe if i remember right from low tide to high tide is best. I use sand shrimp and make sure you have a tiny hook or its just to hard to get em. I was at nehalem a few weeks ago and did great and also saw a few of your 5 pounders caught..Yaquina should be great as well it is personaly one of my favorite spots to go...Have fun catch lots of fish and good to see you here at bft..Patti
