Interesting story

Woman hits NY Lottery for 1.3 million and thier not paying!

This has nothing to do with fishing but I thought I would share. Mother-in-law called today after going down to the lotto office to collect her $500.00 and told us this story.

Unfortanate women was crying and screaming because they wouldn't honor her ticket for 1.3 Mil. They said that the place and machine that she purchased her ticket from wasn't reporting the numbers. The shop owner was commiting fraud by pocketing the cash. Obviously he's busted now but where does that leave her. She played fair and square without any knowledge of what was going on but now they won't pay because the ticket is conected with a fraudulent practice.

I put myself in her shoe's and tryed to see how it feels. I think I would shoot myself[unsure]. They didn't even have the decency to pull her into a private room and give her the bad news, they did it out in the front lobby in front of 20 customers.

Can you say "law suit"?

I would think she would have a decent lawsuit. Seems to this layman that it would be the lottery commissions obligation to control their vendors. The vendor obviously got the tickets from the state or whoever put the lottery on. That would make them official tickets, wouldn't it?. Bet there are a lot of lawyers that would take this one on for nothing down. LMAO.

[cool]D'ya hear about the redneck that won a $20 million lottery. He wanted all his money up front, but was told he could only get $1 million now, and a million a year for the next 19 years.

He said "Okay then, just give me back my damn dollar."

(The joke works just as well for blondes or the ethnic group of your choice)

I heard the same thing happened to a lady in Vegas a few years ago on a slot machine. Evidently, the slot machine malfunctioned and gave her a multimillion dollar jackpot on a progressive slot machine. She even made the national news. Then they told her it was an error and didn't pay up. I would think that would be extremely poor advertising for any casino or lottery. Those $%#@*& !@#$%s.
