DURANGO, Colo. -- Women interested in learning the basics of fly fishing and shooting a bow should sign up to attend an all-day workshop, June 19, at the Haviland Lake State Wildlife Area.
The "Cast and Twang" event is being presented by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and is open to women only, 14 years or older. No experience is necessary; however, anyone 16 years and older must have a Colorado fishing license.
"This is a great opportunity for women to get together with other women to learn some new outdoor skills," said Leigh Gillette, the DOW's education coordinator in the southwest region.
The DOW will provide expert instructors and all equipment. Participants will be on their feet all day, so they need to wear good shoes. Bring appropriate clothing, lunch and a water bottle.
The event is limited to12 participants and the registration deadline is June 10. To register, call (970)247-0855, or send an e-mail to leland.flores@state.co.us. A $10 deposit is required.
