New To Nevada
#1
The wife, kids and I will be moving down here (in Vegas now) to Las Vegas in January and was wondering about all the "fisheries" around here. I know about Lake Mead, Navaho, Majave, but is there anything else within driving distance? I am from the Ogden area of Utah, so the amount of lakes/reservoirs I am sure out numbers southern Nevada 100 fold. Where does everyone go? Again, just curious and getting my foot in the door. Thanks!!!

There are a few 'urban fishing ponds' (Floyd Lamb, Sunset and some others) if you can get into that kind of thing, but other than that I'm pretty sure Mead and Mojave are the closest things, with most posts on these forums posting about Lake Mead

You could always swing up to southern utah to fish. Plenty of great fisheries within 1.5 to 4 hours away. What kind of fish are you interested in catching??

I am into everything!!! Yeah, St. George has Sand Hollow and Quail Creek which are excellent Bass Fisheries. How is the LMB fishing at Mead? All I seem to see caught is Stripers. I visit Lake Powell on a yearly basis, but avoid Stripers. Any good Crappie, Walleye fishing in Mead?

Bass fishing at Mead can be great if you can find the fish. Walleye and Crappie are supposedly in there somewhere but I have yet to see one or hear of anybody catching them in 15 years. The population is minimal.
Mead boasts good smallmouth, largemouth, stripers, channel cats, bluegill and carp populations. They stock it in winter with trout but most of the planters are eaten by stripers by now. I am sure there are some in there deep right now. Are you Kochanut's brother??
