Vacation fishing in TN

My son in law and I were able to make time to go fishing last Tuesday (7-27).

We went to a small part of the Elk River they call Murphys hole. At first the fish just did not want to cooperate (one small bluegill in the first hour)...

We moved upstream about 50 yards and we both found nice little holes to fish in.. here is the result of my day... overall caught ten - 12 fish but these are the best looking ones.. :-)

A few gills:

... and a few rock perch.. these guys hit hard and love to try to tangle you on a log etc...

follow this type of late morning/early afternoon fishing with an hour of hunting that resulted in a 140 pound boar.. and Id say it was an awesome day of vacation...

Man, thats so cool !!! I just love ff for bluegills. They
fight hard. Good job.
So, did you use 5wt or 6wt for that boar ? [crazy]

lol.. try a 30-30 weight..

I found the rock perch, in general, fought a little harder.. but does not take away from the fight some of those gills gave.. :-)

Yes I have to agree that everyone needs a great vacation from whatever they are doing. Mine last week was awesome hanging out in the mountains and catching fish on lakes I had never fished before and seeing my liittle ones do the same.[cool]

I saw your post.. looks like a great time was had by all.. one of these days Im gonna expand my horizons and branch out to other waters than the local stocked lakes here in socal.. but for now I fish when I get the chance and always have fun doing it... []
