Grabbed the tubes and headed out to CJ Strike from Cottonwood campground this weekend.
Fished 3pm to dark and 9:00pm to 10:30 Saturday night. Had many bites but only 1 small perch. Figured the bites were other small perch based on the strikes. That was it between two of us.
Sunday morning we tried again and got the same result, 1 small perch. Tried spinners, lures, salmon eggs, mallows, worms, nightcrawlers, top, bottom, etc. No luck. [mad]
Others were having same luck from shore. Small perch. Some boat trollers indicated that they had gotten a couple rainbows running bass gear. (Go figure!)
Tried on top of the dam itself 11am Sunday for an hour or so. Of all 7 poles in that we saw there again only 2 small perch were pulled up.
Surface water temp was 65 degrees.
Liked the campground and water access for tubing so will go back. Just hoping the other fish types there get hungry!!
I'm thinking the fish have developed a secret communication network with the birds and get notified when I leave my house.....[:/]
