Its great to have 100 fish days at the Nell
#1
Yes 100 fish days are great but yesterday was not one of them....

It was cold and some fog coming off the water but the sky look clear and blue...The fish should be looking for food and my hook...
We headed for the north end to see what was up that way, but all was calm not even a fish jumping.. We headed for a spot where the last time I had the most luck but again no go nota nope not even a fish jumping...

So they want to play hard ball, after trying more lures and other spots and more lures Gorge got a fish the first fish of the day, yes after 3 hours of fishing he got our first fish... It was a great big five inch bow!!
Well the skunk is off the boat at last, but this is the first time this year that the fishing has been this hard...Why???What is going on????

I got close to the bank and could see a bass and lots of small bows all about 4" to 6" the bass was just swimming down the shore line with the bows in behind I put my lure in front of the bass but it didn't even look at it, just kept swimming down the shore like no one was there...

We could see other bass and lots of other trout by the hundreds of small bows, they must have dumped a bunch of fish in the lake...
We kept on fishing and then it happen I got a bite and a hookup but lost it just before I could see just what it was..Four hours of fishing and no catching [:p] then another bite and maybe I can get it too the boat then yes my first bass for the day almost five hours of fishing and we each just had one fish each..

Well its time to head for the house but at the boat ramp I made one more cast and?? Was that a bite???Not sure???But then yes And a fish was in the boat for number two but not a bass but a small 5" maybe well close to 5" bow...This has been the slowest day on the Nell for a long time, but as some say that's fishing, but I sure like the catching much better...Oh yes the bass was all of 12 1/4 inch...[Wink]

that's probably the longest "I went fishing and only caught 2 rainbows" report I've ever read.

glad to see that even the great bassrods struggles some days. I guess that's what keeps us going back again, and again, and again.

Getting out on the water is what it's all about. The "catching" part is just icing on the cake. Thanks for the report cliff. Keep 'em coming.

Cliff,
It was nice to meet you the other day at your poster signing session at fish tech. You probably don't remember me or when I shook your hand and introduced myself. It's okay. I understand. You were probably busy fighting off the crowd and all the groupies who were there with hopes of receiving fishing tips from you! Cheers to you Cliff, you are the man!

Sounds like the Nelle got alot of the fish from the closing of the Kamas fish hatchery. News reported the fish went to Rockport but the Nelle makes sense as there's already whirling disease in the Provo.
Think the bass are all gorged on little bows?

You didn't know that Bassrods was the most famous and greatest fisherman to ever fish the state of Utah? Get with it man!

This is like the only day he hasn't caught 100 fish in one outing! Yes he is famous... at least on BFT he is! [:p]

Bassrods is a great fisherman, but he has a ways to go to eclipse Tubedude as the greatest fisherman to ever fish the state of Utah.

Even though I am not sure I want to know, curiosity gets the best of me.

What does the Bassrods poster look like?

The mind goes wild considering the possibilities of what might be pictured.[Smile][crazy]

So you only caught 11 at lunch?

I went fishing for lunch today and caught 104 fish! Twenty four- 19 1/4 inchers, Twenty one- 15 3/8 inchers, Eleven- 12 3/4 inchers, Seventeen- 11 7/8 inchers, Sixteen- 10 1/2 inchers, and Fifteen 9 1/16 inchers.

I'm such a good fisherman! I've counted every fish I've ever caught just so I can tell everyone about it and hope it impresses them. Blah, Blah, Blah, it really does get old!

Okay I spoke my peace and now I'm done!
