DENVER, CO. - If it's a nasty, challenging or adventurous fishing job, Mark Melnyk is going to do it on WFN: World Fishing Network's new original series Reel Fishy Jobs with Mark Melnyk. North America's only 24-hour fishing lifestyle network's newest original production airs a new episode for 10 weeks every Thursday nights at 7:30 pm ET, beginning November 4, 2010.
The show gives viewers a new understanding of what fishing for a living is all about as Melnyk tackles the toughest, messiest and most outrageous jobs in commercial fishing, conservation and recreational fishing.
In the first episode, Melnyk will be catching sardines, processing and making Fish-all Chum - a rotting mess of shredded fish waste used to attract baitfish and sharks. He will then put his chum to the test as fly-fishing for the high flying, predatory and deadly Mako shark.
"On most of our shows viewers get to see the finished product - a classic boat, a delicious meal, a great day on the water or the world's best anglers competing in a professional tournament," said Melnyk. "On Reel Fishy Jobs, they'll get to see all of the hard work, danger, sweat and talent it takes to make these memorable fishing moments happen."
Some of Melnyk's other jobs on tap for this season will include: serving as a research assistant at the Cape Eleuthera Institute in the Bahamas; snow crabbing in New Brunswick; working as a Veterinary Assistant at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago; manufacturing and repairing boats at Hell's Bay Boatworks in Titusville Fla; competing as a pro angler in an FLW Tour event in Lake Champlain; and serving as an environment fishing guide at the Queen Charlotte Lodge in British Columbia.
Reel Fishy Jobs with Mark Melnyk is a lead in to WFN's "Inshore Saltwater Thursday" lineup, one of the network's primetime theme nights of two-hour blocks of themed programming dedicated to all aspects of the pastime, airing nightly, 8:00 pm-10:00 pm. ET. The six "WFN Theme Nights" are: Big Bass Monday; Fly Fishing Tuesday; Offshore Saltwater Wednesday; Inshore Saltwater Thursday;Freshwater Friday; and World Fishing Saturday.
