Went to PV this morning, to all my perching friends. Got to the narrows around 8am, closest guy to shore said ice was 4" so off I go. Went out to the middle and started drilling. Not so sure about the 4" maybe I'm off a little but in the middle I would say more like 2 1/2" to 3". Since everyone else was doing it I decided to stay, the ice was fishable but still a little nerving. I would say anyone going out proceed with caution and you should be okay as long as you don't do anything crazy or decide to set up with a lot of people in the same spot. It was cold, cold, cold so the ice will be getting better. The good news is all the dinky perch that were out there last year are still there, we had no problems catching our fish but nothing over maybe 7-8" at the biggest. I only saw one guy that caught a crappie but it was a good one. I didn't see anyone else with them if they had one. People had the buoy line set up like a firing range. If you fish there you will be surrounded. So, that's the good news. The bad news is that I didn't see anyone else fishing anywhere else on the lake and I wouldn't try it just yet, ice doesn't look safe yet. Anyway, hope that helps and if anyone finds any toad perch I wouldn't be above taking some advice. Good luck to all and be careful out there.
