Made a couple rod holders for my ice rods, thought I'd share the design. Saw a Youtube video of a fella made one out of a cardboard box - think he used a laundry box, or cat-litter box - one with a plastic handle built in the lid.
Went with the same basic idea - some foam for support, added some PVC tubes, and cut notches for the poles. Tried a more compact design too.
The other is just some PVC pipes attached to a board that's bolted onto my plastic bin I haul way to much stuff out on the ice with. Pretty straight forward, but lengths, notched and screwed. I did add a narrower piece to hold the butt of the rod snugg, but found not all rods are so skinny. Have one with a bigger butt.
I also realized the foam insert that came with my Cabelas camera is the exact right size to cushion my Buddy Heater. Just cut a notch for the propane tank attachment, and it snugs right in. Just need to be sure it's plenty cool before packing out.
