On Pineview, what's the best mid lake access point get on the lake for Ice Fishing, and the best route around the lake to get there? I've only fished the Narrows the few times, and would like to venture off and explore elsewhere.
Thanks

Try cemetery point, it's about as mid lake as you can get. Get away from the crowds and fish in water from 20-40'. Use a castmaster with a small ice fly 8" below that and tip it with a wax worm. You won't be able to keep the perch off your line!

You have 4 choices for PV with parking: Narrows, Port Ramp, Browning/Stringtown and Cemetery Point. Last 3 nearer mid lake. Port Ramp, when you get to the dam turn left, follow the road then take first right that will put you there. Browning, again go across the dam, follow the road to the stop sign in Eden, turn right then second left,go east to Stringtown Rd. turn right and keep going to end. Cemetery, Easier to go straight up rather than crossing the dam. Follow the road around to the intersection that goes to Monty, turn left, go straight to the end. Thats it. Hope that gets you there. Have fun.

Right now, at least before this snow today, I would use the Port Ramp to take the 4 wheeler onto the ice..

Any of you that fish midweek on Pineview care for some company? I'm thinking of hitting it midweek here while the ice is still good, and prefer not venturing out alone. PM me if you'd like to meet up there sometime. Earliest I can be there would be about 8 to 8:30 during the week as I work evenings and I live in Herriman.

Is parking for Browning Point basically where ever you find a spot? I know how to get there, but have never gone down the road. I looked on Google maps and it doesn't appear to have a parking lot. Just side of the road I suppose?

Yep just park on the shoulder of the road.. and the road isn't wide at all...don't block the gates or park in front of the fire hydrant and you'll be okay. We use that access point often...easy trek on and off the ice slight downward trail on and slight upward coming off...
Probably one of the easiest access points for ice fish'n but you will have to hike out onto the ice a ways as that area is shallow plus there is a submerged long/wide sand bar island that just started showing in November.
This island gets hit often during the summer/fall (depending how fast they let water out) as folks not familar with PV and the island won't know it's there...TRUST ME as we've seen numerous Power Squadron boaters flying by and all of a sudden theres a strange motor noise and basically they come to a screeching stop and raise their engines to inspect...jump out of the boat to be in ankle deep water 100 yards off the main shoreline....oh, oh.... There is no parking lot. It is a dead end street with a driveway at the end that one can turn around. You have to park on the street. If everyone parks on the same side there is rarely a problem.

At Browning,
I like to drive to the end of the road to unload my gear and then park where ever there is a spot.
This way I don't have to drag the sled on the pavement and scratch the bottom of my sled.
I do the same when it's time to leave.

I have been using the port ramp area, it seams to be the easiest as far as parking goes but i would recomend a four wheel drive. My subaru has made it there several times without problems but there has been a path beaten through the snow.

Things can get kinda hot under the collar sometimes too. You might find a few black-sheep amongst the herd!
You asked a good question, and got lots of good answers. I'm with ya - PV isn't super close, and I've only ventured there a few times, so getting to "know" it thru the posts and info is great. Builds my confidence for when I DO get there!
You may have seen it already - there's a pretty good map of Pineview naming some of the "spots". TD rocks!
Gather there's a Perch Party this coming Saturday, just don't think work's gonna let me away.
Maybe if I go Sunday, all the dink perch would have been weeded out! (not likely!).
