Fri-Sat at the view
#1
Firs,t thanks to all for the ice condition updates from folks...ice was great, port ramp was good to launch the wheeler
fishing was great on Friday, we fished many spots from 8-6pm anywhere from 11' to 44' had to weed thru the small ones but ended up bringing home close to a limit for each of us, nothing huge..6-7.5"....figured we caught between 250-300, a couple small crappie. Finished the day off shallow by the islands, with 40-60 caught in about an hour right before dark. Was a good day.
Sat..got there a little late and the plan was to stay late and fish for crappie at night. Got into the perch right away, but mostly small ones, by the islands...ended up moving to the west side of Browning and started slaying the keeper perch.25' was the hot hole. stayed there for the night..but when the sun went down...the fish went away...no crappies or perch. Fished 18-42' till 9 pm. not a single hit. Dont have the night time at the view figured out yet. Some other guys came out close by us.....around 8pm, but didnt talk to them...they seem to have a spot picked out, so maybe we were in a good spot..just a bad night fishing? Anybody do well at night there? All in all, a great couple of days, was also easy to get away from the crowds with a wheeler, like was said before..lots of people fishing on top of people. Crazy. Glad to see the perch making a comeback..not back to the bigger size yet but next year should be good.
Oh..forgot to mention one of our group hooked a tiger...had him to the hole after a good tussle, a good 3 footer, 2 more runs then snap...was good to see it tho. We also had another Tiger hit a caught perch and take off for the dam..didnt see him at all. So that was exciting. sorry no pictures of the perch..but they will be tasty today!

Great report thanks for sharing! It's good to hear stories about those muskys. Hopefully he'll be able to land it next time.

Bummer you didn't get the tiger on top for a pic., but must have been fun playing him.

Perch don't particularly bite at night. In fact, I have never caught any perch at night time. Maybe I'm wrong.

I have heard perch don't feed at night because they feed by looking for there food not by smell? Anybody know if thats true or not? I have never caught a perch at night either.

It's the crappie ya hope come bitin' at night. (and the hungry muskie it seems!)

Great post. Sounds you ya'll really hit into 'em! Must have worked thru a mess of bait! Seems like the Perch populations of a few places are about at the same stage - lots of medium dinkers, so maybe in a year or two we'll start seeing Starvation Sized Chunks! (haha)

With the wheeler, and as much time as you put in out there - seems you must have moved around a lot. Did you have a finder, or a flasher?

Was hoping to hit it this weekend, but not the cards my hand was dealt. Maybe next! Sounds like good ice, good fish!
