Hyrum 2/4/2011
#1
Fished Hyrum this morning with friend and his son. Fished from around 7:30 till 1:00. Did really well. Caught alot of rainbows and one 21" rainbow. Even caught my first Tiger trout. It slowed down a bit about 11:30 and then I saw my friends son with a big fish on. He fought it for about 20 minutes and I gasped when the head came out of the hole. I'm guessing it was around 8lbs. Really nice fish and I was really excited for him. Shortly after that my friend hooked a bigger one that snapped him off. Really fun day of fishing.

Very nice! Two weeks ago I missed a brown that was around 22-24 inches. My hook broke at the hole. Last week I missed a rainbow that was at least the same length but much fatter. The hook never set, but I got her to the hole and lost her just as I was reaching to pull her out. I will be back on the hunt in the morning!

I will be there in a purplish tent. From the looks of your pic, seems to be the general area that I usually fish around.

That's an awesome fish no doubt but I would have to argue the 28 inch 8 lbs. Here is a pic of a 21 incher I caught 2 weeks ago. Yours is probably more like 23inches and 4 lbs. I would invest in a tape and weigher but still nice catch bro.

We measured the fish. I'm sure glad you are such an expert on fish length. Were you there? Did you see the fish? It's people like this one as to why I don't like to post pics on here. They are deleted.

I have seen some nice browns come out of there this year, the biggest being 24 and 1/2 inches and weighed 4.5 pounds. Would have been nice to see a picture of a fish like that, eight pounds is a huge fish, that would be going on my wall for sure.

I'm really sorry you chose to remove your pix. Hadn't had a chance to view (argh, work!) and sounds like you had a good outing. Debating length vs girth - ya know, no-ones business. I like TD and wife's philosophy - if it broke off it was as BIG as the fisher says, and no one can question!

If you want to take pix with measure and scale, great. If you're not entering a competition - hell - just share your good time and we should appreciate and enjoy.

I know lots of posts that get blasted for assuming 100+ fish days, only reason I would question - is I can't count that high! (bottles of beer down, yes. fish caught, up - no.) Anything beyond a dozen becomes "lots" in my book.

Would you PM me your pix? I'd love to see them monsters I've missed! Still hoping to hit it (or somewhere's) tomorrow afternoon. Sunday morn is up too - long as I get home to clean house before the Superbowl!

Hey I just call it like I see it. If it really was that big then why delete it. Your tired of guys like me, I'm tired of guys on here that catch a 16 inch bow and call it 21. Don't be a fool fishin fool, there's no way in heck that was even close to 8 lbs and you know it. Next time you measure make sure not to have so many keystones before you do. Fish stories are part of fishing, just don't take pix that dissprove the story. Like I said, dang nice fish, mis judged is all.

Don't know why ya'll got ur ruffles up. Have a chill - poster said "guess" in the first place, and I don't think Cat was calling you out - so much as pointing out his experience with fish-weights.

A photo ain't nuthin but a bunch of pixels. And you can play with them pixels....if you're so inclined.

When the fish was caught all he had was a leatherman to measure the fish. I fished with him this morning and when they got it home and measured it with a tape it was 26 inches. As to the weight have no idea. Just the nicest brown I have seen in a very long time.

It is actually one of Roghets masterworks. Credit where credit is due.

I always enjoy his tinkered pix. Fun stuff!

Thanks FishinFool - that's a monster in any book! I like seeing him next to the usual planters I come across.

I've hooked into two of those big ones - had one right up to the hole. Got a look at all the spots even. Nice that your friend was able to get it out. Thanks for sharing.
Please don't hesitate to share pix in the future - some of us appreciate seeing them. Almost makes up for not getting out there myself!

Sweet pix, that's what I need to do to make my fish look as big as my stories... So what do you do to catch Crappie through the ice? Can they be found on Cutler this time of year?
