Kayak camera mount
#1
Kayak forum seams dead, so thought I would post in the tubing forum. I have seen a few You Tube videos of camera mounts for kayaks, but they are either too close to the angler or way over complicated. So I tried a simple mount.

I installed a Berkley rod holder flush mount to the side of my kayak (http://www.fishusa.com/Berkley-Boat-Rod-...e=googleps ). Used around a 3 inch piece of 1/2 inch pvc pipe and attached it to a 45 deg elbow. The Berkley base has something inside that I think locks the holder in place. So I had to grind out a little grove in the 3 inch piece of PVC so I could insert it into the base.

Then I added around a 1 1/2 foot piece of pvc to another 45 degree elbow. I added a cap to the end of the elbow. Before installing the cap, I drilled a hole in the cap and used a bolt that fit my camera and locked it into the cap with a nut. The camera screws into the bolt and sits perfectly. The camera mount swivels around so I can bring it close to me and hit the timer on the camera and then swing it out to take a picture. I had to play around with the size of the long pvc section until the camera was at the right height.

Tried it out by taking a picture with one of our local Utah fish.
