Good day @ Willard
#1
Woke up at 5 am just to hear it rain..[mad] Well the weather report said its going to be a good day and it was..[cool] I fished the north dike about 1/2 mile out.. I landed 3 nice eyes and lost 3 more about the same size.. 18 to 19 inches.. I was using a chartreus with gold fleck curly tail grub with a white head.. 1/4 oz ? As seen in 1st photo.. There was another fisherman using a white curly tail and doing well too.. Fish were holding about 10 ft out and just off bottom.. retrieves were slow.. All fish were males..

[cool][#0000ff]Nice work. Looks like the north dike was a good choice. Didn't have to destroy your car on bad roads either.[/#0000ff]

Ah what beautiful eyes you have! Nice catch.
Man I have jigs and plastics JUST like that. Was pitching from the N. Dike into a gaelstorm headwind. Couple weeks back. With all the waves - don't know if I'd-a known a bite if it hit me across the face (like the wind was....)

Are you in a boat or tube? I'd be curious to know how you work it. Are you pitching towards the shore, or out to deeper. Jig along the bottom, or steady retrieve? Sounds like slow going is the way.
Sounds like you got out before sun-up. Do you find them biting after dawn hits?

Man - I gotta get me out there! Thanks for the great post, and cudos - that's some nice filet work there.
I'm sure you've got your own, but I know where you can find some nice [url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/cgi-bin/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=658059"]recipes[/url].

Very, Very and V-E-R-Y nice...we we're also out on Willard but just really learning how to fish for Walleye and researching 'Al Gores' internet...we're finding out we're doing all the wrong things from tackle, techniques, to approaches.

We did have one 'almost' in the boat but out of net range and not a good hook set out pops the worm harness stripped of the tasty crawler. Oh well we did manage to C&R a lil titch over 20" Wiper. The Willard Eye quest is on and for us being students of this fish its lots of reading and practicing the 3Ps (Passion, Persistence and the line I ran through except when fish'n...Patience)...again VERY nice color us envious...let the quest begin...[Smile][Smile]

No tube this time.. I was casting along the shore and out about 15 ft.. just retrieve fast enough so the jigs just off bottom.. The fish were caught around 830..
