Put in around 9:30 at WT. Perfect conditions=perfect day. I start shooting docks and
catch crappie almost everywhere I stopped. I used 1/32 oz. jigs with BG Outlaw Special
and Ghastly Minnow . I am swimming my jig off of a dock, it gets crushed. The fish feels
too heavy. I grab the net but I'm thinking it's a stupid bass or a cat. I see a monster
surface next to the boat where I get it into the net. I said "You are the one I have been
waiting on." The crappie was 17 1/4 inches and weighed 3lbs. 1/4 oz. Barely over three,
still my goal reached. The three pounder, hard to do in this lake. With the tail pinched, I
had the fish at 17 1/4 inches. If the egg sac was more developed the weight could be scary.
I got some guys in a boat to take my pic with the crappie. I told them I was going to release
it, they looked at me like I was crazy. I confirmed it when I let her swim away, see you when
you weigh 4.
Later in the day, I caught another over 14 in. This one heavy with eggs, weighed 2lbs. 1
1/4 ozs. Ran into Ranger1 and Tim, they had a livewell full of crappie. R1, make sure Tim
brings some jigs next time he borrowed half of my BG Outlaw Specials and I think he took
a bite off my sandwich when I was'nt looking. Enjoyed talking to you guys!
I finished with 40 keeper crappie and kept 15 for some friends. I'm gonna get that 4
pounder if it kills me!
