Palimino or albino trout Wheeeee!

I was fishing the Arrowrock dam tail waters yesterday and landed this awefully pretty albino trout....for a fisherman like myself its like catching a piece of candy or dessert...LOL...Anyone else had the pleasure of one of these beauties?[fishin][Wink]

they are kinda cool lookin fish, however the ones that ive caught tasted nasty maybe it was the water i caught them out of but they were really mushy, dont know for sure.

I am guessing Palomino as the eyes are not red. We have both in allot of lakes around here. Even the ponds I guess have both.

Ive never seen one with red eyes in any pics...I looked it up online and they all say albino trout and all the pics look the same...I dont know where Palamino came from.[fishin]

Palomino are genetic and there are allot out here in the Rockys. People even call them Goldens and Albinos, but there are Palominos in the same waters, so it is confusing. I am no biologist either, but I always grouped each differently.

Albinos trout are another rare genetic anomaly

I am just going off what a Taxidermist to me when I caught that rather large golden colored fish. I too said Albino, he corrected me. He has been stuffing fish all over the world for thirty years so I went with that...LOL

I just researched some more and around here its called a banana trout...a genetic mutation that hatcheries are able to reproduce. They have been stocked numerous times in diverse places...not a native species obviously.

There are tons of the banana trout in hagerman and they do taste mushy, maybe there is a special way you have to fix them.

But you have some of these and i have caught a lot of the deep blue backs from Oakley reservoir
